Information and Communications Technologies.

Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) provide schools with a very powerful and highly motivating resource, which can enhance learning in all areas of the curriculum.

Computers are highly graphical and interactive and children greatly enjoy learning with ICTs so motivation is high. Learning can be centered on the individual and paced to match learner needs.

A great strength is the way in which computers bring learners together either in project teams within a class or in connection with others in distant places, Using ICTs for learning contributes to the broad educational aim of preparing our young people for the future.

A guiding principle will be that this new technology for the classroom must be educationally valuable and directly connected with the curriculum of the school and the progress of the children.

The Teacher Guidelines for each curriculum area will incorporate suggestions on using ICTs for teaching and learning. A specific booklet of Guidelines for ICTs will accompany the curriculum and will provide practical guidance for teachers with extensive exemplars/suggestions on how ICTs can be used to enhance teaching and learning.
